Our Mission

Celebrating our 2nd year, Metuchen Momentum Team 7587 is an award-winning FIRST Robotics Competition team (FRC) in Metuchen, New Jersey USA with 36 Metuchen High School (MHS) students and 10 mentors.  7587’s purpose is to help create the next generation’s STEM workforce, implementing skills of leadership, teamwork and effective communications. Each spring, the team designs, builds and fields a robot to compete in FRC District Events at Bridgewater-Raritan High School and Montgomery High School.

FIRST stands “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology”. The FIRST mission is dedicated to changing the way high school students regard education and whet their appetite for a career in science and technology. The intent is to inspire an appreciation for the real-life rewards and career opportunities in these fields by challenging students and their adult mentors to solve an intense engineering problem.

7587 sees itself as a self-sufficient company, our products are future leaders and we consider our sponsors as investors. 7587’s culture embraces Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition and an entrepreneurial spirit to provide students with a fun, exciting and valuable real-life business experience. Our priorities include: community engagement, transparency and inclusiveness.  We want all team members to go pro.

Founded in the fall of 2018 with a generous grant from the Metuchen Education Foundation, 7587 operates as an independent robotics team out of the MHS wood shop. In 2020, we established Metuchen Momentum, LLC, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization to enhance our fundraising capacity and ensure the vitality of the team for years to come.
