Safety Guidelines
1.
Conduct yourself in a responsible manner at all times in the laboratory.
2.
Wear goggles and gloves when working in the lab.
3.
Tie back long hair, remove dangling jewelry, and wear closed-toe shoes (NO sandals!)
4.
Report any accidents or injuries as soon as they happen, no matter how trivial they may seem.
5.
Report damaged items immediately.
6.
Deposit waste materials as instructed.
7.
Clean up after yourself.
8.
Never use machinery unattended by a mentor.
9.
Never engage in pranks or horseplay.
10.
Never bring food or drinks into the lab, nor consume them in the lab.
11.
Never touch your face, eyes, or mouth when in the lab until after you have washed your hands.
12.
Never handle broken glass with your hand; if something breaks, get the mentor.
13.
Speak respectfully and calmly whenever working in the pit.
14.
Maintain the integrity of our lab:​
1. Return tools wherever it was initially kept after using it.
2. Check on the quality of the tool before using it and inform a mentor when the tool is not functioning to its full capacity.
3. Tell a mentor or safety captain whenever unsure how to use a tool.
